Kima and the Dogs

My own personal press conference, part second: What’s the funniest thing Kima has done in the past week?

Kima is fairly predictable. She is funny in her own way, with her “crazy puppy eyes” and perpetually wiggly butt. She loves watching tv, which is funny, but she LUH-OVES watching videos of her and Junior playing, which is hilarious.

The other night we were lying on the couch watching tv and she farted. Not knowing what that noise and sensation was, she snapped her head around and started looking for the source. She sniffed up in the air, off to the side and then found the source of the perpetrator: her ass.

Dogs are silly.

I try to make an effort to get her to the dog park on the weekends. In the Spring and Summer I take her evenings when I get home from work, but the days are so short right now that it’s pitch black by the time I get home from work.

Today there were a lot of dogs at the park when we were there.  Per usual Kima didn’t really care about any of them, she just kept making the rounds of people looking for attention. She is very smart, and well behaved but her worst trait is her desire to jump on people. She knows she is not supposed to, but anytime she meets someone new she will try it to see if she can get away with it. If you turn your back on her and refuse to pet her until she sits she’ll be good, but if you feed in to her cuteness (and it IS cute) and let her hug you with her paws on your shoulders then she will keep doing it. You would think she is neglected. I assure you, she is not.

The jumping drives me nuts. She doesn’t do it to me, because she knows better – I will not tolerate it. But every time we go to the park – EVERY TIME – I must say “No jumping!” no less than twenty times.

After today, though, I am so grateful for her relatively benign fault. Sure, it can be dangerous – she almost knocked her old dog sitter down a flight of stairs backwards because she was jumping on her the whole way up – but at least it is not repulsive.

This afternoon one of the dogs crouched down to take a poo. She had just started and in a FLASH this yellow lab came bounding over and BEFORE THAT TURD HIT THE GROUND he had gobbled it up. That’s right: the dog ate a warm fresh poo as it was coming out of another dog’s ass.

Kima can jump on me all she wants.

Amyella (pronounced Amy-ella) is a pseudonym for Amy Levitt, a fitness and health food fanatic and a beach girl at heart. She has been sharing her sometimes nonsensical thoughts and self-amusing stories online since 2002 and currently spends a good deal of her time wrangling her 90 pound Rottweiler and 60 pound Boxer. Which is quite a show.
The origin of the name Amyella.

Here's my deal. It's wicked exciting!
